Have you ever made your own taco seasoning? If you haven’t, you really should! It’s so easy and tastes sooo much better than the package stuff! Not to mention, it doesn’t have any of that crap you can’t pronounce in it.
I’ve tried several recipes from Pinterest but this one is my favorite so far: Homemade Taco Seasoning by Gimmesomeoven.com.
The recipe below is doubled. I prefer to work smart. I make double the batch so I have some next Tuesday!
- 2 Tbsp. chili powder*
- 2 tsp. ground cumin
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. paprika
- 1 tsp. oregano
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
- Whisk together. Add about 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water per pound of meat. I typically brown my meat first, then add the seasoning and water, bring it to a boil and remove from the heat. Walaaa...homemade tacos!
- Store in an air tight container to keep fresh.
