There are a couple reasons I made a berry smoothie for myself yesterday. Though I will spare you the details for one of the reasons. Let’s just say I’d rather drink one of these delicious, fruity, icy and just plain mouth-watering concoctions over prune juice. The other reason is because it was so beautiful outside that it just felt like smoothie season! Finally!
- I bought a huge bag of frozen berries that include strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. I do suggest when you add this type of fruit to your smoothies, leave out the blackberries. They have these big seeds in them that are super annoying to try to suck through a straw and/or get stuck in your teeth. Just throw them back in the bag.
- Once bananas have started going bad (getting lots of brown spots on them) I cut them up and throw them into a freezer bag. If you take them from the freezer, be sure to let them sit out for 10 minutes or so or else they’re very difficult to break apart from one another. You only need about 1/3 of a banana for one smoothie.
All of the ingredients below were gathered, tossed into my Ninja (blender/food processor) and blended for roughly 30 seconds.
It looks pretty thick when done, like you could eat it with a spoon but it tends to melt pretty quickly so I just spoon it into my glass and well, suck it up. 😉
Yes, I suppose I’m brave to include this picture of myself and what I really look like anytime I don’t have to do my hair (like almost every weekend). Not to mention the trim in the background that my husband needs to fix – hopefully he’s reading this. Love you! 😉
Anyway, give this recipe a try. You will not be disappointed!
1/3 frozen banana
1/2 cup frozen berries
1/2 cup Pomegranate Blueberry VFusion juice by V8
1/4 cup milk (you could also use almond or coconut milk I’m sure)
1 tsp. flax seed (milled)
Of course, because it was so nice out, I had to take my glass of loveliness out to the deck. (It’s so exciting that this table is no longer covered in three feet of snow.)
